The Lafferty ferry at the Fort Liard crossing near Fort Simpson has resumed service and is forecast to end operations for the season on November 4.

Premier Bob McLeod was host to his first international visitors yesterday. Mr. Susumu Fukuda, Consul General of Japan, and his wife Mrs. Alicia Fukuda came to witness the swearing in ceremony of the 17th Assembly’s Premier and Cabinet.

Hon. Bob McLeod, MLA for Yellowknife South, is the Premier Elect for the Government of the NWT’s 17th Assembly. He will be sworn in tomorrow afternoon.

Ms. Karan Shaner has been appointed to the Supreme Court of the Northwest Territories. Until her appointment Thursday, by Canada’s Minister of Justice, the Honourable Rob Nicholson, Ms. Shaner was serving as the Assistant Deputy Minister (Attorney General Branch) of the GNWT’s Department of Justice.
On 30 Sept., 2011, Accreditation Canada advised that Stanton Territorial Health Authority has been granted Accreditation.
